Master Xinyuan Wang was born in 1982 in Wuning County, Jiangxi Province, inherited from Liang Guoxing and Yuzhen- Wu, the renowed master couple of Canton embroidery (Guang embroidery), have been devoted to the art of embroidery for 28 years. Master Wang has continued to study hard to refine his embroidery skills, through his rigorous study eventually developing his own unique embroidery style and creating his own needlework, a new stitching technique - the hoop stitch. Master Wang is constantly committed to the inheritance and innovation of Canton embroidery, enriching the expression and spiritual connotation of Canton embroidery. In his works of Canton embroidery, he integrates the lines, structures, colors, light and shadow changes elements of oil painting, photography, sculpture, Chinese painting and calligraphy into a whole, fusing the East and the West and blending the ancient and the modern; he also boldly innovates and changes follow the trend, and positively expands the subjects of Canton embroidery, and on the basis of the traditional Canton embroidery which is mostly based on the themes of flowers, birds and peacocks, he has pioneered to use the theme of famous paintings, cultural relics and bronzes, portraits, military, animation to create a unique style of Canton embroidery. Which not only gives people a different visual impact and feeling, but also expands the subject matter so that embroidery enters into a broader space of artistic expression.

Since engaging in the art of embroidery, Xinyuan Wang has received numerous of prestigous awards in the arts and crafts, including the "Hundred Flowers Award", "National Craftsman Cup", "China Golden Arts Award", "Shenzhen Golden Phoenix" and other awards for arts and crafts. His achievements have attracted the attention of official media outlets both domestically and internationally such as CCTV, Guangdong TV, Southern TV, Guangzhou TV, Hong Kong TVB, New Express, Southern Metropolis Daily, Hong Kong's Ming Pao, Asia Times and various newspapers. CCTV7's "Hello, Old Soldiers" and CCTV4's "Ordinary Artisan" have featured in-depth interviews with Xinyuan Wang, highlighting his contributions to the world of Canton embroidery and recognizing his dedication to cultural heritage. In September 2023, CCTV2’s CCTV "Economic Half Hour" program interviewed Xinyuan Wang in his embroidery studio and Juyuanxiang Yongqingfang store, and reported in-depth on Xinyuan Wang's achievements in the industrialization of intangible cultural heritage. In October 2023 CCTV News Channel CCTV13 interviewed Xinyuan Wang.

 

In March 2023, Master Xinyuan Wang participated in the "2023 Asian Youth Leaders Forum" as the sole invited inheritor of intangible cultural heritage. During the forum, he engaged in friendly discussions and photo sessions with prominent guests, including Olympic champion Dajing Wu. Xinyuan Wang also exhibited his Canton embroidery work "Artistic Conception" at the Asian Youth Art Exhibition. As a representative of outstanding young artists, he expressed his commitment to further promoting and developing Canton embroidery culture, infusing intangible cultural heritage into the realm of Asian art! In April 2023, Xinyuan Wang's eight pieces of Canton embroidery made a stunning appearance at the meeting between Chinese President Xi and French President Emmanuel Macron, the largest number of Canton embroidery on display! Five of these artworks, presented as national gifts, accompanied French President Macron on a night cruise along the Pearl River, honorly witnessing the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and France. This momentous occasion reflected the national cultural confidence in Guang embroidery, which has always been engraved in the depths of Xinyuan Wang's mission.

 

Like mastering the embroidery technique, Xinyuan Wang has also pursued innovation in the application of Canton embroidery. With the concept of " intangible cultural heritage + cultural creativity", " intangible cultural heritage + cross-industry cooperation" and other modern ways, Xinyuan Wang has collaborated with well-known companies such as China Southern Airlines, Tencent, Blue Moon, Broad Color, Oriental Selection and other well-known enterprises to help the interpretation of intangible cultural heritage Canton embroidery in the Internet era of rejuvenation.

 

In April 2023, Xinyuan Wang's eight pieces of Cantonese embroidery were displayed at the meeting between Chinese President Jinping Xi and French President Emmanuel Macron, showcasing the largest collection of Cantonese embroidery ever presented. Five of these pieces accompanied President Macron during his evening cruise along the Pearl River, bearing witness to the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and France. This accomplishment reflects the cultural confidence of the nation through the art of Cantonese embroidery, a mission deeply engraved in Xinyuan Wang's heart.

In addition to his embroidery skills, Master Wang employs modern methods such as "intangible cultural heritage + cultural creativity" and "intangible cultural heritage + cross-industry collaboration." He has collaborated with well-known companies such as China Southern Airlines, Tencent, Blue Moon, Kuose, and Dongfang Zhenxuan, rejuvenating Cantonese embroidery for the younger generation in the internet era.

Furthermore, Master Wang actively promotes "intangible cultural heritage in schools." He has served as an extracurricular instructor in more than ten primary schools and provided Cantonese embroidery classes in over a dozen universities. His efforts expand the talent pool for the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.

Master Wang also connects Cantonese embroidery with rural revitalization. He has traveled to various regions, including Weishe Township in Hezhang County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province, and Xiaojiang Town in Yangjiang County, Guangdong Province, to teach local residents Cantonese embroidery. This helps promote poverty alleviation and income generation through the art of Cantonese embroidery.

Furthermore, Master Wang collaborates with the Guangzhou International Cultural Exchange Center for the Disabled, offering free Cantonese embroidery courses to disabled individuals and helping them gain employment and increase their income.

In a time when traditional craftsmanship faces developmental challenges, Master Wang's significant contributions to the preservation and innovation of Cantonese embroidery are truly remarkable.
